SUMMARY OF THE EVENT: Major disturbances were observed in the ionosphere the 17th of March 2015 due to a geomagnetic storm (k index up to 7 at Dourbes). During the day, in the southern part of Europe, TEC increased by 118% (+48 TECu) while in the northern part it decreased suddenly by 75% (-17 TECu) with respect to the median of the 15 previous days. During the night, the ionosphere was active in the northern part. The next day, TEC remained at a low level.
