SUMMARY OF THE EVENT: Abnormal increases of TEC were observed on the 8th of December in the early morning at the north of Europe and during the day at the centre and south of Europe. These disturbances are linked with magnetic field disturbances: K index reached 5 at Dourbes (www.swans.meteo.be). Figure 1 shows the time evolution of the Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) (in red) extracted from the near-real time VTEC maps at 3 different latitudes (Figure 2): a) Northern part (top), b) Brussels (middle) and c) Southern part (bottom).
