SUMMARY OF THE EVENT: The 12/03/2012 at about 08:40 UTC, ACE observations show the shock arrival due to the solar Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) associated with the solar flare of the 09/03/2012 (source: www.sidc.be). As a consequence, the Earth's ionosphere above Europe was disturbed during the 12/03/2012 from 11:30UTC to 17:00UTC.

Figure 1 shows the time evolution of the Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) (in red) extracted from the near-real time VTEC maps at 3 different latitudes (Figure 2): a) Northern part (top), b) Brussels (middle) and c) Southern part (bottom).
